Removing BTA

A reefing buddy of mine has a BTA and it split about 2 month ago. Both BTA have been doing well, until we tried to remove one of the BTA to put in my tank. THe BTA started to deflate and turn in-side-out so we stopped messing with. That was about 2 weeks ago. The BTA has been eating but has not blown back up. So my questions are did we harm the BTA trying to pull it off the rock and if so can we do something to fix it. Second is how do we get it off the rock with out hurting it.
Thanks.

you can try some flow and tickle it, but do not try to pull it off you will damage it and possibly kill it releasing toxins into the tank that can cause the whole thing to crash.

Mine split recently and I gave one to the original owner of mine. I placed an ice cube against the foot where it was attached and it slowly released while I gently pulled along under the foot. It took several ice cubes and about 20 minutes of patience and gentle handling to finally get it fully removed from the rock. It will be thoroughly PO'd and deflated, but should perk up in a couple of days.
