removing Ca build up and coralline??

The gallon jugs at the hardware store are cheap.

I've worked with the acid lots (used to maintain pool chemicals for a few summers). It's not that bad, but if you breathe it in, you'll know. It will feel like your whole throat and lungs are burning. You will actually just have a hard time breathing. Make sure to wear gloves and goggles when you're handling the straight acid. It will really burn any small cuts that you have on your hands. I used to wear goggles, gloves, and a breathing respirator.

The acid will actually dissolve concrete. The stuff has a ridiculously low pH. Darn near 0 if I remember correctly.

PH of 20 degree baume (which I believe is what most Home Depot, Lowe's and pool supply stores sell) is less than 1. I got bored at work and used to read the MSDS sheets. Another note for anyone using muriatic acid:

It is extremely corrosive. It will rust even stainless steel quickly. Make sure to keep it away from all your tools and other metals.

I stand corrected I thought it was you and I that looked into it a while ago?my memory remembers what it wants these days so I'm not surprised I remembered it wrong. But just FYI most of what I've read says it depends on concentration and that most commercially available muriatic is at a ph of around 4.5 ;)
