Removing clam

I have a derasa that is VERY stuck onto some rock work that needs to be moved. What is the best method of getting him off the rock without hurting him. If I leave him he is likely going to become damaged from corals growing into his flesh. I have already had to prune back a lot to keep him happy.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated....

You can lean the clam to one side and take a razor blade and cut the byssial threads that are attaching it to the rock. The byssial threads are a secretion from the byssial gland so it will not harm your clam. Just cut the threads as close to the rock as possible. In a few days to a few weeks your clam will shoot out more threads and re-attach where ever you put him.

I might have to cut the threads. The rock it is on is very large and completely covered in acros. I can't lean the calm over either he is wedge into a crack.

I will take a picture this weekend and post it up to give you guys a better idea...
