removing dead fish

i just had a medium coral beauty die in my 24g aquapod...( left for a long weekend and asked my mom to take care...tank got way too hot.) i can see the body, it would be a pain to get to, and my brittle star is working it over... do i need to remove if or will letting it sit cause my amonia and nitrites to go through the roof?

In a 24g, I would get it out. Too big of a fish for such a small tank to let your brittle star try to take care of it.

In a bigger tank I would say it'd possibly be ok. I would say do what you can to spear it with something or find some other method and get it out.

If you have a way heavy bristleworm population they could get it, combined with that star, but I'd sure test the water often.

Prepare water for a 20 percent change. That may come in handy.

One way to get something from under a rock [mildly lodged] is dexterous application of a turkey baster. Take it down deflated, and suck, bring to the rear, blow, take it to the front of the area, suck, repeat until you've set up a suction. If that won't work, do you have enough room to get a small hose connected to your stirring pump into that area without risking other fish? That can suck a deader out, up against the hose.

IMO, I would remove it.
