removing fan on light fixture...?

i have one of those 150w Aqualight... i was wondering if it is bad for the light fixture if i take out the little fan on the side... that thing is noisy... it vibrates the panels in the lighting fixture... that is until i Dynamatted a lot of the panels... now, without the panels vibrating, the bearings in the fan itself is still noisy...

i'll try to buy another fan, but i thought a fan is a fan... i don't know if the other ones of the same size that the fixture uses will make any difference in sound... the Dynamat made a huge difference though... i just wish i can Dynamat the heck out of that little fan...

i think the fan that's already in it is a small computer fan...

would it hurt anything if i just not use the fan at all...? what is the purpose of this fan in the first place...? is it to cool the bulb itself...? or to help move heat away from the water surface... cause if its only purpose is to help move heat away from the water, then i already have a clip on fan for that...

some of the setups i see in the forums doesn't look like they're using any fans in the fixtures... i just don't know if it's safe to do this...

The fan is there to remove heat out of the light fixture so it doesnt overheat and cause a fire.

Most of the lighting fixtures have fans but they are tucked away.

i just got back from work and installed a new fan that i bought earlier today for $4... now all i hear is silence...! i don't remember the stock fan being this quiet, but maybe it was 6 months ago when i first got it... i don't know how long this new fan will last before it starts becoming noisy too... oh well, but atleast after a sheet of Dynamat, and a new fan, i'm happy for now...
