Removing hood and rim on Red Sea 130D????

I have heard that folks have removed the rim on their Red Sea 130D.

Any tips for doing this?

Has anyone had a tank crack or break in the tank due to this?

Any links, photos, etc. appreciated. Thank you!

Trim is there for a reason, it wouldn't be a good idea to remove it.

I would not remove the trim but I would not mind removing the hood. If its a permanent move, you might have to dremel some pieces so its flush or pleasing to your eyes.

If you plan to drill the tank, I would email redsea and confirm the glass pane is not tempered.


I emailed coralife regarding the biocube glass prior to removing the guts and drilling for a diy overflow.

The tank did crack eventually due to the concrete expanding on a diy concrete look.
