Renton's Upgrade

Nathan, I am blown away by your tank! Incredible. I'll for sure have to stop over soon. Good luck with the ich issue

Wow, this is a beautiful reef tank. Love the rockscape.

Can you post some photos of your SPS please? - I'm really undecided whether to buy the GHL Mitras as I'm unsure of LED's ability to colour up SPS corals.

Other than the green coloured Acros; how are the colours of

-Blue
-Purple
-Red
-Orange
-Pink

Acros?

Many thanks. And please keep the thread updated. Will be following this thread closely. :)

Thanks sahin. My colors faded a bit shortly after the tank transfer. They are recovering, but not all the way back yet. I have kept good color on blue and purple across in the past under these lights. I do not have much experience with red acros, though I currently have a red planet that is starting to color up. I will be interested to see it progress. I have had no orange across. I have a frag of the pink panther macro and that has kept its nice pink color.

I will try to do an acro picture update in the near future.

A couple days ago I noticed the colors on my blue star leopard wrasse looked kind of strange. After looking at it for a bit I realized she is changing into a he

The minor ich outbreak has really cleared up well. Didn't lose any fish. I soaked food in garlic extract once a day and during a separate feeding i soaked food in Selcon. I also hooked up a uv sterilizer. Only the hippo tang has any signs of ich.

After the transfer to the new tank I had serveral corals that had colors fade. They have all made a nice comeback in the past month. Here are a few update shots of some of them:

How do you rate the LED's for SPS colour compared to T5 and Halides?

Tank looks beautiful. Many thanks for sharing.

Thanks! Tough for me to make the comparison, I have never used T5's or Halides. Currently my colors are coming back after fading a bit due to the tank transfer. I try and get as accurate as possible coloration in my pictures as what you would see if you were standing right infront of the tank. It is a bit of a challange because blue LED's really mess with the camera sencors, but I think I have been able to get a pretty good representation of the real color.

Honestly, in my opinion the colors I have seen in my tank versus other people's tanks (who use t5 or MH) are very comparable. But that is just my observation and people don't always have the same corals I do, so its tough to really compare. All that being said, I really like my lights and coral and have no plans to change them anytime soon.

Looks great! Glad to see that someone else is having good luck with the SOLS too!

Thanks Clarkii! I really like them.

Renton, that is such an awesome setup. I am so jealous. Soooo much coral. That had to of cost you a lot in coral.

Man, I love those Orange Spot File Fish you have. One of the first things I noticed when I picked up some coral from you back in Dec. Great looking tank!

So, my tank is pretty much turning into a sausage party. Back in August I added one male and two female square spot anthias. I noticed the large female soon grew larger then the male. The male's colors then started to fade as well as his square spot. Over the past week the large female has turned male. I think her male colors are still developing but it is now obvious.

For all those keeping score at home (not sure why you are) I have now had a leopard wrasse, flame wrasse and square spot anthias transition from female to male.
