Renton's Upgrade

I started a little list of sps:

CC Kombucha Tenuis
RR Raven Milli
Inland Cyclops
BC Bellicose Trobairitz

Additionally, I plan to add some lps like an elegance coral and some additional euphyllia and some gonipora.

I am sure there will be more, but that's where I am at currently

More fish as well.

Several wrasses.

Anampses femininus is a dream fish I hope to get some day, but I have to see how it would do with my yellow tail tamarin.

Possibly a couple tangs.

A Gem, Achilles or a purple tang would be a nice addition as well. Heck with it get one of each you have enough volume. :inlove:

9 feet gives you so many options and I dream about having a tank this long.

vlamingii, brevirostris and dussumieri would be my choices for tangs.

I recently added 3 pyramid butterflies. They are great fish and fight with each other but leave everyone else alone. I'd try even more with a tank this big, but wouldn't attempt more than 1 in a 4 foot again.

I like larger Angelfish but understand not taking that risk.

Bluethroat or crosshatch triggers.

I might also try fusilier if I had this tank.

Setup a couple quarantine tanks. I have 3 captive bred yellow tangs, a powder blue tang and a powder brown tang arriving tomorrow. I wanted to get them now and get them through QT so that I can add them to the big display tank at the same time I add all the other tangs from my other tanks.

Awesome job on setting up this beast of a tank. Question what size are your returns from the closed loop on the main tank?

May I ask where did you purchase them from? I like the idea of captive bred fish.

I bought the captive bred yellow tangs from Live Aquaria. Biota is the company that does the captive breeding. They shipped from the Wisconsin Live Aquaria facility which is where Diver's Den is housed as well, I have had very good experiences getting fish from there.

They actually just arrived and are acclimating. Look good so far.

The closed loops are all 1.5". The return output on the Vectra L2 is 1.25" so there is a conversion piece the takes it from 1.25 to 1.5

Awesome, Yes I purchased from them before too and never had an issue. I just lost Yellow tang during quarantine process. It was really sad seeing your fish slowly dying.....

Good luck!

Perfect thanks for responding how about the nozzles inside the tank?

On the closed loops in the tank there is a 1.5" "5-way" and each outlet then has converter pieces that drop it down to a 3/4" threaded that then lead to 3/4" locline with the flare nozzles.

The new fish seem to be doing well. They are all cute tiny babies!

The Powder Blue and Powder Brown don't seem to be trying to get at each other and fight, so that is good. They are also both eating.

I decided to put the yellow tangs into the new display tank. They looked good, they are captive bred, came from the Live Aquaria/Diver's Den facility in Wisconsin which I have a lot of respect and confidence on the health of their fish. Plus, there really isn't much in the display tank right now anyway.

The yellows schooled right up and are eating very well.

Finished the closed loop on the frag tank:

Started work on wire management. It will be an emphasis this time around as things got pretty out of hand on my last tank. Having the light power supplies up in the canopy has made a big difference. This cabinet will hold the battery backups, power supplies and be the Alkatronic and Apex headquarters.

Oh, the old system is still up and running as well
