Renton's Upgrade

Well holy smokes......that was quite a project. Huge thanks to the group that helped out, I could not have done it without them. We were able to get the live stock out into the bins, drain the tanks, move them by lifting a bit, then getting them on moving blankets and sliding them. The display tank was able to stay on the stand and the sump stayed in the stand.

It was a very long day but I think most of us enjoyed it. There were no emergencies or "ut oh" monents.

Tomorrow I will tear out the remaining carpet and prep the floors and the tile guy will come Monday and by Wednesday the tile should be done!

Today was the craziest and most intense part of the upgrade process (I hope!). Moving the new tank into the house will not be a walk in the park, but its not as time sensitive nor a 14 hour endeavor.

I never seem to have much time, but if someone needs me, especially quickly to lift something heavy, I might available. If I upgrade or move, I know I will need the same.

Put together some closed loop returns for the new tanks

And a few pictures of my flower anemones in their current home. They really seem to like it.

Tomorrow I am going to go get a bunch of dry marco rock. The boy and I taped out the outline of the tank and placed the closed loop intakes and returns down (their order is still subject to change).

The intakes will be mounted higher up to reduce the chance of sand getting sucked in. I also intend to keep the rock at least 6" from the class to give a lot of room for swimming and flow.

Got some rocks and played around. Built the first structure. I am trying to hide the closed loops so I have that limitation but I have some pretty good ideas in my head for the rest of the rock.

The tape measure shows the overall height of the tank

Then I grabbed some plumbing....a startling amount of plumbing. o_O

Awesome job on the rock construction. I am planning to do something similar. Did you do the sand and super glue method like you did at tidal garden?and are you going to secure it with the e-marco mortar after or do you think super glue is enough?

Thanks! I did use the glue and sand method exactly like I did at Tidal Gardens. Yes, I am giong to secure it with e-marco mortar, should arrive tomorrow.
