My Iwaki 30 RLT is getting noisy. I am thinking of replacing it with PanWorld 50 PX which has same capasity as my old pump. Dealer claims those pumps are identical in performence as Iwaki since they are designed by the same engineer. Do you have any experience with that brand? Thank you for any information.

Yup. Did the EXACT same exchange as you are thinking about. The Panworld is a good pump not much more quiet than the iwaki but about the same. imho

Ha ! You are going through the same process and thoughts that I have had. The Iwaki japs are the quietest. The Panworlds are a very close second. I havent tried any others...well a little giant but it was a screamer compared to the iwaki.

You should get a couple cheap mouse pads to put under the pump and dont use hard PVC to connect to the pump (transfers vibration) I use about 2" of flexible pipe to reduce vibrations between the pump and sump then between the pump and the plumbing.

The only other pump that I have looked at is the Reeflo Snapper gold. I heard one in a LFS and it was really close to the iwaki but pushed ALOT more water.

if heat is not an issue than look into the posiden velocity pumps. they are silent, i have seen one in use and you have to touch it to see if it is running. they are also really small. the reason they are quiet is because they dont use fans to cool, they are liquid cooled, but this will raise your temp a few degrees.

I looked at them too. I know they are dead silent. ( a friend runs one on a 45 gl tank. BUT they didnt move enough water for my specific application.
