I just picked up a magnificent anemone from a local fish shop. Always wanted one, but have never seen a healthy one at any local shops.They ordered three of them, put them in a 40gal with hardly any lighting and flow, one perished, and I chose the healthier looking one. Not bleached at all,or deflated. Put him in my display after acclimating(400gal two year established full reef tank) with great lighting and flow, and this morning the nem is still looking great. My question is, when do I start feeding him? Oh yeah, he attatched himself almost instantly, and is still at the same spot this morning(high in the tank with lots of flow).

Wait at least a full week before feeding, signs of infection can take up to a month to show I've read. If you don't have it already buy ciprofloxacin and follow the sticky at the top of this board on treatment protocol. If you notice any deflation or gaping of the mouth I personally would start treatment as it didn't come from the best conditions.

It is hard not to feed anemone, but feeding one that is not well can cause big problem for him. I would wait until he does not deflate at all for a few days before attemp to feed him. IMO, Magnifica should be feed small meals only, Less than eraser size food to start with.

He's very nice Alex.

He's got the thinner tentacles which I really like on some mags.

I think you can feed him without any issues, because he looks extremely healthy. Just very very small pieces at first.

Make sure you have Cipro on hand. trust me..
