Restricting Pump Flow???

I have been told some pumps are better to handle restricted flow (on the discharge end). I am sure this is true. What makes a pump better for this application?
I was told the Dolphin Amp Master is good. Reeflo pumps was another.

Can I restrict the Dolphin 4700 to 1000 gph?

Some pumps can be damaged by restricting the discharge/output. Not sure about Dolphin, but I know ReeFlo pumps can accommodate the pressure, and It will not damage the impeller nor the motor.

So can it be said that a ( High Pressure Pump ) would be the only type pump that will handle the out flow restriction?

Any pump that uses an impeller can be restricted on the output side.

There really aren't any pumps we use in the hobby that can't be restricted.
