return pump advice

I decided that running a mag12 @ 40% for a return pump is not helping anything so I figured I'd sell it and get something new

IM setting up a 40BR and I have 3 seios that I can use inside the tank for flow

will that be enough flow, so I can get a small return pump?

or will I still need supplemental flow support from my return pump?

If you subscribe to the "Chad Farmer Method" there is no such thing as enough flow as long as your fish still have scales!

Others might say that you should be OK depending on which Seios you'll be using.

they are M620s

I have no problem with high flow in the tank and I can design my overflow and drain to accomodate more, but Im being told that would be too much flow through the sump

go with a mag 7 in the sump....then a couple strategically placed seio's should be good. JMO

I hate pumps in the tank. I personally went with a mag 12 for a return on my tank and then another one for a closed loop. It's enough flow for a 100 gall 6ft tank. I do have enductors on the closed loop which increase the output of the pump about 5 times. Look into something like that.

I made my own out of simple pvc parts. Not as pretty but just as efective.

Bad thing about a closed loop is that you are stuck with where you placed your outlet unless you can do some creative plumbing...

If your still having a bad time with drilling bring the tank over to my place and I'll drill the holes. So faar I only broke one tank. Might just be dumb luck but it works...

thinking a 1.5" drain, 2 5/8" hole

That is one huge hole. I don't have anything that big. I used my 2" holesaw to drill the hole for my 1.5" drain...Are you sure you need a hole that large?

where did you get your bulkhead? I'll just get one where you did

Home depot about 2 minutes away from my place. I used a male and a female threaded adapter and "bam" u got a bulkhead.

When you bring your tank over to my place I have Gateway, a pond place and home depot about 2 minutes away from my place. We can take the holesaw with us and pick your bulkhead...
