Return Pump For 180 (240 Total System Volume)

I know this topic has been discussed in depth, but I'm getting ready to upgrade to an AGA 180 gallon with 65 gallon custom sump. Looking into a Blueline Velocity T4 as a return pump. Any suggestions as to what pump would be best for this system design? Thoughts on the plumbing?

I am at the same stage as you planning a 180g with a 100g sump and 70g fuge I am going with a dart pump on my return, but it will supply my fuge also. good luck

I have a T4 and you can't even hear the thing running. I have heard, that due to the titanium, one must clean the pump frequently. Not sure if that's true or not.

I have it going through two 3/4 Sea-Swirls and does very well.

Thanks, Red Sea Purple Tang! Do you think it would be too much for a 180? I've heard they get hot enough to add a couple of degrees of temp. Is this true in your case?

Hey Drummer! Love the avitar by the way. Mine is used just to move water from the sump to the tank, not as main water movement. It's pumping at approx. 5 feet of head pressure plus four 45 degree bends and one 90 degree. I did notice a slight increase (not quite 1 degree), which I adjusted my heaters a titch. There's a guy on the Wisconsin forum, Jeff, aka know-it-all (RC), which was running one from the basement to his display. He may be able to give better info on using it as a return. I changed as many of my 90 degree bends to two 45 degree bends to help with back pressure. It's great little pump.
