Return Pump Piping

On my return pump I have an 1 inch exit, I was going to run that 1 inch pipe from my sump up to the top of the back of the tank and right before the return goes into the tank I was going to reduce the line from 1 inch to (1) 3/4" or (2) 1/2" lines with 2 flares nozzles.

I know that reducing doesn't add more flow rate but it does increase the water speed. The reason that I ask this is with the 2 directions that I can produce with the 1/2" flares would let me get water movement in more places in the tank that would other wise be dead zones?
What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks

That's a good idea. It's like the garden hose, if you place your thumb over it, the stream is faster but the same amount of water is coming out. Your right on track. :)

You can also buy things that go on the end of the PVC called penducter's or inductor's both due the same thing your tryin' to do. But they thread on to the very end that sits inside the tank.
