looking for a return pump for my 125, what size would b ideal for this size tank, it has to push the water up about 5 feet before entering the display.

anyone. i just need to no what gph i should should for on the return pump, i know about the head pressure calculator, but ime not sure after all is said and done how much water needs to be going back to the tank.

There really isn't a static answer. A rough guide of 3-5 time the tank volume per hour is a good place to start. So 375-625, is a good estimate. But factors such as sump/fuge and skimmer size, drains, internal or external all play a roll.

If it were me I would go with a eheim 1260, but I don't know what your plans are for your tank or how it's set up.

[flame suit] I am putting together a 100 gal right now with no fuge. I am using a 3500 gph return pump @1.2amps. I will be bleeding off about 1000 gph for the skimmer, chiller, uv and calcium reactor. I may put 1 powerhead in on a wave timer if I need it. [/flame suit]

i was debating b/ a mag 18 or mag 9, do u think this is too much?
ive got about 11 gallons for each section in my sump, and the refugium has minimal flow going thru it as i only have about 30% of one drain going to it.

The 18 is too much. The 9 would be OK, but I would go with the eheim! Better pump, less watts, less heat and fewer headaches:)

so which eheim would b the best? im still have to push this water around 5 ft back to the sump. ime lookin on ebay now and those things are slightly more expensive than the mags. but either way nt that much more expensive, i want to get this right the 1st time around and appreciate the advice.
