That tank is way to small for a tang
I thought so... But some people seem to think you can and that fish will grow to the size of the tank but I know that is false and it stunts their growth which equals a unhealthy fish that might die quicker. What do you recommend for the first fish I put in there? I want to put some cheap, hardy fish in there first to get my tank going after it cycles and then put some good fish in there afterwards when the tank is stable.
I mean I kinda would prefer Hose because it looks better and is easy to hide but which one do you recommend?
Hose is the easiest to set up but it's really up to you. How far does up does the water have to travel? Also how many 90's will you use? You want 5x flow after head loss so 200gph.

Gotcha. It seems I will lose about 100GPH So around a 350gph return pump will do it.
I was looking at the Mag-3 which does 350GPH. Still not sure what model/brand of overflow box to go with though.

Go on divers den and look up fish that will fit in a 30 gallon tank then make a wish list and post it. People will tell you if you have to many fish and if those fish will get along ect.

Mag pumps are known to be loud. The over flow just needs to be able to handle more then what the pump can give it so if you got a 300gph over flow you would be fine.
Yeah i was looking on that website for a few days now. Very helpful. I was thinking about 6 to 15 1-inch fish, or 2 to 4 3-inch fish in my tank.
I found another one, this https://www.eheim.com/en_GB/products/technology/pumps/universal-1200 Eheim 1200 which is I think 317 GPH which is what I need. And I found this for the overflow box http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=18358 Which is the PF-300 which is 300gph max flow.
I believe its right. Also I updated my list for return pump and overflow box after doing more research. The EHEIM 1060 is actually discontinued but they replaced it with a identical new one the Eheim 1260 at 634gph. Head loss calculator says about 400gph (so 200gph loss) which will turn over my tank 10x a hour which is perfect. The overflow box I just went up a model to the EShopps PF-800 which is a 800gph overflow (I know all Overflows are self regulating). How do those choices sound so far? Also im researching on powerheads. If I recall its GPH should be 10x the volume of your tank for a powerhead right?
Oh no I want corals like LPS too
