Returning to what I love - My new 180 Rimless

Hey Buddy, I'm making out OK. Its a slow process though. Since I don't have a separate holding facility, the best I can do is baste the corals very three days and try to keep the population down. I feel like the tank is in a holding pattern in terms of growth. I just had another friend ask for pictures. I will take some shots this weekend..

My apologies for taking so long to update the thread.. You guys have been great with comments and suggestions along the way and I thank you for that... I've had a few stumps here and there and have been taking time to sort out the issues and really get on top of them... I lost two colonies from a sudden drop in salinity due to a stupid error on my part, AEFWs and to boot some asternia damage to my birdsnest colonies. Fortunately, things seem to be coming around.. Here are some pics that I shot tonight...

Wow, tank is really looking good. Hopefully the battle will be over soon. Curious how you like your Geo 612 Reactor? I just put mine online and got it dialed in. So you run mag pellets in yours?

still looking good Jon...

What is that red and green acro that encrusted the crap out of the rock on the left side of the last picture?

Thanks clowndude... I Hope so.. although some battles will continue.. its amatter of me keeping on top of it... I love my 612. It has been one of my best purchases since getting into this hobby.. I believe they have quick releases for the top now, which makes them even better for emptying and re-filling.. I use ARM Media.. Next change I will be using the ARM LArge particle media..

Hey Daryll,

Thanks Man.. That's one of two red planets in my tank. Believe it on not, that colony was rescued as a frag from one of my now close LFS. The frag looked damn near dead when I got it. The other one is just below the pink birdsnets to the left side. It grows much slower, but encrusts well.

I thought it was red planet but I noticed the other one and thought it might be something different.....but it seems you have 2! They are so nice.....mine has been slow to get started.....color is great and it has encrusted A LOT but vertical growth has been very slow to get started. Hoping it will take off soon.

Keep up the good work!

I think it has a lot to do with placement with these particular corals.. the one up high with has definitely grown faster (both started from frags). The both have a good amount of flow around them, so I was able to rule that out.. Recently, I clipped off the only vertical nub on the one below to give it to a friend and there are now three heads budding out from that spot. A good clip can do the trick sometime.. I've noticed that this coral definitely like to lay down a good base similar to pink lemonades and Garf Bonsai before the vertical growth takes off...

Looking good Jon. I agree my pink lemonade encrusted for months, I thought it would never branch. Glad to hear things are getting better.

Mike, Thanks for all the advice Bro.. I will give you a holler this week to chat.

Thanks Bro.. All T5s. Just about to change them out for a new set come Monday.

Jon, what do you use to hold the water for your ATO? How many gallons? Also, are you still running Kalk, how much? Thanks man, sorry for so many ?s

I use a 44 gallon Brute container. I like them because they are very rigid. Yes, I'm still running Kalk. Ask away Bro!

Awesome SPS colours. The way I see it; when someone is able to get their SPS corals to colour up this good - they've got the mojo lol. :D

Thanks Sahin! LOL... I've got that MOJO! along with a few flatworms... LMAO!!!

Thanks Brett, I was biting nails with this guy initially. He's still not eating flake or pellets, but he is devouring everything else.
