Returning to what I love - My new 180 Rimless

NP lol I thought about that ot statement and realized I'm a Moran. I've taken your thread waaaaay of several times hehe sorry

Hey Bro, as long as we're having fun and sharing information, it's all good!

I dont believe there are any chemical wars between the two. Its more a feeding issue, the polyps will tell you if it is getting enough food if they are out. If they are retracted its starving or perhaps just waxing wich IME takes about a week or two. There is just something about sticks with small polyps that draw my attention. Gorgonians are one of my passions and I wish to have a mixed SPS and gorgonian tank one day though it will take some extra care to balance the two needs. You are vodka dosing IIRC so that will help big time if you want to point feed the gorgonians. Ive gone the biopellet route and have had good results so far.

What ever you end up doing it will be just perfect

Acronic, thanks for the information! I really appreciate that. I will definitely look into them. The Only problem I have is that I hate target feeding! LOL!

Sent you a pm Jonathan. Do you have any updated photos of the tank? Always like seeing your tank. Maybe one day I could come see it in person.

Got it CD. Sorry it took me so long to respond.. No updated pics yet.. Maybe next weekend. Stay tuned.

as do I. FYI I dont target feed anything unless it is crucial to its health, like hanging on by a thread crucial. So far the gorg is looking good, its only been a few weeks but ill keep the thread updated with its progress. Only time will tell if it needs better feeding.

That's good to know.. I see the one that you have is purple! It's very nice... Just took some tank shots.. Showing some growth over the last few weeks...

Woooo Hooo Jon!
Just so pretty looking. Great balance of colors in your system.
Looking natural and grown out perfectly.
Thanks for the pics.

Happy Reefing!!

Thanks Guys! Those shots are with my Canon 7d. I need a better lens to get some really great shots with this camera. With 18 megapixels, the camera does a great job exposing the flaws of a crappy kit lens.

Hey Jon, how was your Christmas man? Hope all is well with the tank. I plan to have mine running with water by mid Jan. I'm still waiting on the tank which should hopefully be here this week. After that it's just lights, reactors and pumps. I'm still going back and forth on what lights I want. Thinking AI Sol Blue LEDs.

if it was the i phone I would have gone and bought one!

The phone pics that you see me take are using a Samsung Galaxy S 2. This phone take really good tank pics, much better than the iPhone for tank shots IMO.

My Christmas was pretty good. Thanks. I hope the same of yours! There are so many lighting options out there right now. I've had such a good experience with T5s, I think I will stay here for a while... These have been the only lights that I've never experienced any color issues with my coral. Even when I was running MHs on my first tank it took different bulbs and finally different reflectors that did the trick for me. I would love to take the dive towards LEDs, I'm just waiting to see how they pan out long-term for folks before I make the jump. CAn't wait to se you get your tank up and running!

there ya go man! Glad to see the new pictures! Been too long since you got the camera out. I love to see FTS of your tank, it is just so deep. I could imagine me with it, itd be stuffed full of corals. You have some amazing restraint and it just shows how long youve been doing this to allow your corals plenty of room to grow all the way out. Just beautiful! I sure wish your wall of birdnests were still around since the rest of your coral have matured to the size of what they were. It wouldve made the balance that much better...RIP

You know what's funny Chris, I thin it's more y lack of time to mess with the tank than restraint! LOL... It's really nice though to see the coral fill in over time and create their own scape.. Looks really natural after a while..

I wish I had not lost my original Ponape colony, but funny enough, the day I gto a frag from my buddy that I gave a piece to from my original colony, I found a small piece of mine in the substrate that was alive in well.. I attached both of them together and mounted them just to the right of the hydnophora on the bottom.. So far, it seems to be growing out nicely with bright neon branches with nice purple tips... can we borrow from a another rap great and say... "Don't call it a come back!" LOL!

I'm thinking of giving the LEDs a go. Seen a lot of nice tanks with the AI Sols. Debating whether I just want to run fish only till I move in June or just start getting it going with coral. Haven't thought that out fully yet.

If I may.... It will be a much more difficult to move your tank once you have it esablished with LR and Coral versus moving a fish only setup.. I would wait. It takes way too long to get that stability for a reef and will make your move overall more difficult... Just my .02

Okay, that is what I was thinking. I'll probably just get fish so I can QT them before the move. Then I'll setup the rest after the move.
