Returning to what I love - My new 180 Rimless

Hi Jon,
I just posted the pic of the new coral I was talking about and looking similar to yours. It is doing well so far with good PE. But I need to ID it and read up on it and find out if it has any specific requirements.
The powder blue can be a terror. But the sailfin is one brave tang, give it 2-3 days it should stand it's ground and shooo away the powder blue :D

Thanks bro.

Thanks RN... So far, so good with the Sailfin.. They Beat up on him the first night at lights out, but the aggression has subsided.. I think he is going to settle in nicely!

Kev, Thanks for the info on the Gorgonian food!

I know they eat cyclopeeze and oyster eggs. I would like to have it refrigerated but I think in the time it took to travel the length of pipe to the tank might make it worthless. Maybe something could be rigged up to feed freeze dried cyclops from an auto feeder, drop it into some tank water and then it travel the pipe... I dont know lol Im sure my anthias would love that idea though!

That's a great idea and yes, the anthias would certainly go nuts.... You should patent it if you figure it out.. LOL

I remember that SteveWeast had an awesome setup using a dorm room fridge and his profilux doser... Very cool stuff.... If I find the link i will post it....

I will take a pic of her tonight!

Jon,
Good to see you making great progress as always, Your new additions look very nice. Let us know how they do in the tank.

Sorry to going back a page or two, I'm a little behind responding. You mention you may switch over to LED in the future. I made the switch from my giesemann Infiniti to the vertex illumina 260 and so far its been a very downhill battle. While there some great advantages to using LEDs like cost and a fraction of the humidity, I am not convinced that the LEDs can sustain a SPS reef on their own.

Granted I moved my tank twice in the last 5 months so I will give it a year from the time my new tank is running before I rule out LEDs all together. I would keep using the T5s since they are working extremely well for you. You could add LED strips to your setup however I don't believe you would notice a difference as the T5 would overpower and drown out the LED output.

If I ever roll through NY, I'll send you a PM.
Nice work brother, keep it up!
Cheers
Rob

Hey Rob! Thanks man.. It's great hearing from you. Yeah, I contemplated LEDs, but I have not been convinced yet that they can sustain the colors that I am getting from my current T5 setup.. So, It's definitely not an option for me right now.

It would be a pleasure to have you Bro! I will PM you my number.

Finally got a picture of the wrasse.... maybe someone can help me I'd him..

I think you're right Bro! A fairy wrasse is on the list next... However, first up, some new SPS in February..

Tank looks AWESOME i had the same set up lol just sold it all recently :( had to downgrade due to time restrictions with the family

Jbanks - Thanks again for posting on my build thread earlier today. I had no idea that Cadlights was an extension of an older company in New York. Eddie is a great guy and he was very helpful for me. I noticed you are an Bubble King owner as well. I just bought a BK Mini 180 that arrived today, one more way our tanks are similar. Anyway, the tank looks great, I hope to one day have some colonies instead of frags. Keep up the great work here.

Thanks urbankes. With your attention to detail, your tank will be full of beautiful colonies! You're gonna' love that BK. Again, best wishes to you!

Nice fish Jonathan!

Thanks Harry!

I like the deminsions of the tank you have great room to aquascape it however you want

Thanks 120..Yeah. The dimensions definitely give you a lot of cool options.. This year June will be three years in and I may at some point re-arrang the scape a bit to take more advantage of available space so that I can add more coral..

Geezz J, You had me read all 878 posts! I've spent many nights looking like this :wildone: and seeing like this :hmm6:!! LOL! However I'm glad I did because I got to find out some secrets to your wonderfull success. Well done bruh!
Yes everyone, I was the fortunate one whom got that lucky Red Planet piece J mentioned back at post 4 hundred and something!! :lolspin: I think.

You know J, your build has been really inspirational to many including myself and I will be incorporating some of your idea's into my current project now that my filtration room is done. So you better watch out now!! There's a new tank in town! :D

Thanks bruh... we'll be talking and great job. ;)

You guys really have to see this remarkable tank in person... It's breath taking!!

Hey OPG! Thanks for the kind comments Bro! It has been a fun ride with bumps here and there. Fortunately my experience this time has been more about success than failure... Between my tank and the people that I have around me like yourself and other from NYRC, my love for the Hobby has increased ten-fold! Thanks for all the support and mostly for the acceptance that you guys showed me being the newbie and all ;)
