Returning to what I love - My new 180 Rimless

Hey Everyone. The tank continues to do well after rebounding from the Levamisole treatments for AEFWs. Currently dealing with a light Cyano bloom, due to the phosphate spike caused by the treatments. Fortunately, it's already on the run. Here are a few random shots that I took the other night that I thought were cool.. FT and top-down shots coming in a couple of weeks...

Awesome tank. Can you tell me what these are? What kind of tort is that?

Thank you :) Far left with thick fuzzy brances is a Bird of Paradise(birdsnest). Just below that, is an ORA belina. Above and to the right of the Bird of Paradise is a Blue Stag. The coral that you are referring to is a Cali Tort. The orange guy in the back is Monte Setosa... OH.. the green one way in the back is a blue tipped greeen slimer..

Thanks. It's a mighty fine piece of ocean you have there. Enjoy!

Jon,
your corals look wicked dude. How goes the carbon dosing? What are you doing to battle the cyno as it was feed from the carbon.

Cheers
Rob

Rob, what's up dude! Thanks Bro! Carbon dosing is going well.. Right now, I'm dosing like 10ml of vodka daily to bring my phosphates down.. You hit it on the head with this feeding the Cyano... I've been doing frequent water changes and adding Microbe Lift Special blend, which will eventually out compete the Cyano into oblivion... Well, that's what it did before when I had an outbreak. LOL. I just failed to keep up with the maintenance dose. Smells like all hell when you open the bottle, but great stuff! How goes your project Sir?

Great work buddy! Sorry If i missed it but is the Achillies no longer with you?

I love this photo, how the polyps group with the flow and the tips turning out

Hey Kevin! Thanks Man.. I eventually lost the Achilles.. I thought he was going to make it judging by his appetite of all kinds of food, but I've come to the conclusion that shipping to the states is way too rough on such a delicate fish. So, about eight months ago, I tried my hand once more with a powder blue from Live Aquaria and that guy is thankfully still with me, fat and happy!

Jon...I saw in your sig that you are lighting with an ATI T5.

I am setting up a second tank; a 60gl Cube. I currently light my 180gl sps with (3) 250 MH and VHO supplementation. However, I am contemplating going T5 or LED. My question is: are you happy with T5 lighting (corals look great) or are you considering LED any time soon?

Many thanks.......

I actually love T5s. I would love to go LED for the eventual cost savings, but I have too many questions like how long do leds hold thier spectrum... I think we're close with LEDs, but I'm not convinced that we're there yet. T5s give you the opportunity to blend just tue perfect lighting combination without the excessive hear and high wattage that come with 400watt MHs... you lose the glitter, but uu get use to it. THE ATI fixtures are great! However, if you switch to an ATI, make sure you slowly acclimate your corals to tue fixture. They will bleach out due to tthe itensity of the light... even those corals coming from 400wat Mh systems...

Yea that's exactly what i thought you would say. I finally moved my tank from my dads place over to my new house so im still playing around with settings and programming. I switched from the giesemann infiniti to the vertex illumina 260. Still ramping up the light slowly, so far its nice.

Right now I am trying to get these expensive abyzz pumps but no one will help me ship one over from europe. its very frustrating trying to get specific items out of europe.

I got my keg fridge up and operational so now i need to start focusing on the fishroom. I hope to cut the concrete this weekend and start working on a new floor drain. I have to start moving forward with this project, LOL

Cheers
Rob

Your lighting choice sounds nice! After that, all I saw was KEG Fridge! LOL.... That's awesome.

As far as European equipment goes.. a lot of it is awesome stuff. But, unless they have a retailer in NA that can service their products, it can become a huge headache.. Good luck with that Bro. I wish my sewage line was near my tank.. I would have tapped into it a long time ago... Awesome stuff man... Looking forward to more progress!

New FTS Shots.. Top-downs coming this weekend... Calcium reactor was acting up and Alk levels were fluctuating.. A good blow into the feed tube of my GEO and voila!! like new again... Parameters are looking rock solid right now.. Thankfully!

Dude! What's up.... First things first...... I started my tank with frags (including that Tricolor Valida top left) from the tanks of two very generous friends a little over two years ago. Anthony is one of those guy! A true reefer to his heart and and all-around great guy! Thank you Ante! ;)

It's all here waiting for you when you're ready to rock and roll Bro!
