Sorry bud didnt see you put up the pics of the arch. I agree it is a bit plain compared to the rest of your tank. It has a ton of potential so knowing you, youll work on it til its perfect! Man I cant wait til my tank reaches maturity so I can start seeing super saturated colors like yours. My tanks still a baby at less than 4 months old. I feel its starting to mature due to more coralline always needing scraped. Hey id appreciate your help in my thread. I have a space that I would like you guys to tell me which coral to place there since I have given up...given your coral layout I know youll be able to help. again, tank looks great cant wait til you get the real camera out again! hurry up lol
Bro, I meant to get back to you on that... Headed over to your thread now.. I have an idea of what to put there....
As for the arch, I will definitely work it out and get your feedback... I will be swapping some stuff out with some Cherry Picks in February so stay tuned..
Kev, That sounds like a an interesting Idea. I saw a purple one that was really cool once.. I wonder if there is any chemical issues between gorgonians and SPS?? Dude, if you can put it on your back with the water in it, it's yours! LOL.
kev if youll split it with me, us two lame back turds will be able to get it together! So Jon, should say thanks for taking care of our tank all this time, I know I appreciate it but its time for it to come to my house. Sorry
Hey CD, thnks man.. I would love to come out to San Antonio and help, my Dad was a Texan so its definitely in my blood! How are things going with your setup?
I received the stand, protein skimmer bubble Magnus nac 7 and custom sump. I should receive my dsa rimless tank this week. The following week I should have my nextreef mr1 shorty, reef octopus br-70, sicce 3 return pump and two sicce 1.5 for my media and biopellet reactor. Then I am going to cover the overflow with a rock structure and build out a cove using that Marco rock and mortar. Then it will be time to set it all up. Come mid Jan I am going to order two AI Sol blue LEDs with the controller. I'm thinking of going with a bible magnus dosing pump.
With any luck this system will be really good. Any thoughts man?
Sounds like a sound plan so far Bro.. Just make sure you soak the Marco rock in ro/di in order to get as much phosphates out as possible.. That can cause you problems down the line and Phosphate can be a BEOTCH to bring down when it in the rock.. Can't wait to see your setup!!! Hit me up with the build link when you start!
Really I didn't know their dry base rock could have phosphates? Is it best to use meradic acid also? I've also been giving it some thought about that fake rock. We have had a few customers that after setting up a brand new tank with dry aragonite and liverock that get phosphates. Not sure if it's from the aragonite or liverock. Curious if this is a cause of people's phosphate issues because the tank were setup with ro/DI water yet they still had phosphates.
RC Memeber ChrisHayes used muriatic acid on his rock and it worked out really well for him. Shoot him a PM, he will give you some great advice on that. It probably was the problem. Both aragonite and live rock and leach phosphates.
Interesting stuff. Do u think it ever stops leaching phosphates or do u think it's a never ending thing? I remember reading at one time that liverock slowly breaks down over time. Wonder if u actually can ever get it to stop leaching phosphates.
What I image, is that you try to get as much of it as you can out in the beginning.. Then, with all great advances with carbon dosing and new skimmer technology that we have to name a few, you can manage what's left via those and other export methods..
I see you have a bubble king. So u feel the bubble king is that much better of a skimmer over say a bubble Magnus? I've been considering just going with a bk mini 170. Just wonder if the mini is better than the bubble Magnus nac 7 and if it's worth four times the cost.
Clowdude I dont want to junk up Jons thread with OT stuff so feel free to pm me and ill tell you how to rid yourself of a LOT of phosphate in those dry rocks.

I dont believe there are any chemical wars between the two. Its more a feeding issue, the polyps will tell you if it is getting enough food if they are out. If they are retracted its starving or perhaps just waxing wich IME takes about a week or two. There is just something about sticks with small polyps that draw my attention. Gorgonians are one of my passions and I wish to have a mixed SPS and gorgonian tank one day though it will take some extra care to balance the two needs. You are vodka dosing IIRC so that will help big time if you want to point feed the gorgonians. Ive gone the biopellet route and have had good results so far.
What ever you end up doing it will be just perfect
