Drywall is for the devil. The little part I did before installation on the tank drove me crazy. But I like how everything is coming along on your build and the rock wall facade looks good.

If you can reef I bet you can drywall. It's not that hard really. Best part about it mud covers up most of the mistakes or you can just sand it down and retry. Ton of info on the net on how to drywall and such, heck they even got texture in a can.

Couple of updates. I completed working on the actuall room finishing up the paint and some trim.

Started working on the stand itself. Got to say though it's a beast standing in at 43" tall. I plan on putting a a plywood sump lined with fiberglass panels, sealed with some RTV 103. Right now im estimating it to hold about 100 gal of water. More to come on that build. Here some pic of the stand build in progress.

Bottom installed and sealed off with window silicone. Shoul give a nice look when it all gets primed and painted.

My 2 cents on the single return pump - if something goes wrong with it, the entire system will be impacted... Might be better to do separate pumps - just a thought

I though about that, but figured since a i have a few smaller pumps lying around and powerheads in the DT. I'll planty of water movement if and when the main pump needs servicing.

Ok I have been reading through some threads about dry live rock and from what it seems i guess i should try and lower the dead organics on it and acid wash it. Going to start on the 300+ lbs of rock i have tonight. Anybody have succes in doing this?

Kroamium, do a Search on the word "muriatic" in RC and you'll get several threads telling of how others have done this treatment on their rocks.

What kind of rock do you have? Marco, reef saver, pukani etc? I used pukani on my last build and didn't do acid dips….10 months later I ended up pulling all of the rocks out, did 2 dips and still have significant po4 levels. Ultimately I ended up ditching the rocks and going with new ones.

stand isnt completly finished, im working on a 60" x 24" x 18" plywood sump to put in the stand. I have started on it, but havent had much time to finish it up. But, the plan is to put screw down a 3/4" plywood top and have another 3/4" plywood floating top with a 3/4" styrofoam on top of that. this is following the tank munfactures recomendations.
