Today i went to get reverse osmosis water for my water change that im about to do and when i was in walmart i saw a reverse osmosis machine their and all you have to do is bring in your jugs and fill it up for X dollar.....So I got 3 jugs 5 gallons each total of 15 gallons. I now have them and not sure if this is good water or not. If its bad quality or not, if i should use this water or not. Please let me know
Thank You

if you dont have an RO unit you could always by the jugs of RO/DI water... it is a little inconvenient but it works well for smaller tanks... just dump the RO/DI into your mixing container and then fill up each jug with old water then change you water with new...

i did this when i had my 34g and my 12g jbj... prolly would be pretty inconvenient on big tanks but the water in the jugs is almost always perfect....

You might want to check with your local fish store to see if they will sell you RO. Might be a bit more expensive, but at least you know what you are getting.

Hi,

Most Drug Marts sell RO water on the outside of their buildings by the entrance. A TDS meter is a good investment so you can keep check on your RO membrane.

Also, another suggestion of what I do when I need a larger quantity of water....

I go to my Clearwater Systems store here locally, and have them fill my 55g drum. Takes 10 minutes. And it's only 12$ for 55 gallons.

I purchased water from walmart for about five months due to not having an RO/DI unit and living in an apartment. Way better than tapbut there are variables which you can't control, their maintenance on the machine. Do it if its your only resort. I measured the TDS when I was buying it and the highes I had was 24ppm. Good luck.

IMO, you need to check it no matter where it comes from. TDS meters are cheap.

Here in Findlay, and before I bought my own RO/DI filter I bought all my water from the vending machine at the main local water treatment business. I purchased a meter and found the TDS were in the 30s. Better than tap but still... I got my own filter shortly afterward and my tank improved dramatically.

When I set up my 120 I tried the water from a car wash (I was in a hurry) a few blocks from here. Their water read 0 on my meter, and it was less expensive than what I spent previously.

The point is, no matter where you get the water, it's only as good as the maintenance on the filter system and unless it's yours, the only way to know is to test.
