Reverse Sunset Monti

Hello All,

I remembered that a couple of people had said that they were interested in the Reverse Sunset Monti that PEAC had on their website. While mine didn't come from Dr. Mac, it is a very nice specimen. I will entertain frag swapping offers if any one is still interested. The green base color is a little more prevalant now that it has finished acclimating. Mostly looking for other really nice montis and acros.

You sure thats the Original Reverse Sunset??? The green is quite vibrant on it... There have been a few wild collected colonies that have been coming in that don't hold color quite as well as the aquacultured versions... I hope it colors up for you...

Here are some pics of mine...

Mine was an import, it was from Bali. It wan't the LE version or anything like that. I would like for it to color up like yours but if it doesn't that's okay too, I got a pretty good deal on it. What kind of lighting do you have yours under? Mine is under 250 watt 14k's. I'm considering going to 20k's anyway. I wonder what that might do for the coloration.

Here's mine from Jose Casas. Not exactly sure on the lineage. Poor photo quality compared to the "competition". The lower portion is not exposed to as strong of light as the top and hence the polyps aren't the red/orange colors where lighting is better but the green base is still true to color.

Good luck with yours Spongie!

Almost everything from Jose has lineage since he's usually the one that passes it on to Tyree who then makes it LE... lol :D

True, but when I got it from him it was one of his unusual and not yet fragged corals. I never followed up with him to confirm the ID but it is visually identical.

So, how do you get corals before they are "released" and who is this Jose?? I have read about him, but how can I get his corals?

You gotta have faith in your fellow reefers' judgement and not worry about names and lineage. There's certainly "risk", but I find most ppl in this hobby are honest. Many of my corals came that way and while many will never achieve LE or AE status, they all come with a story.
