Depends on what you're looking for. The retail store is small - they have some livestock there but not much.

If you want dry goods from the catalog, place your order in advance so they can pull it for you from the warehouse.

Not sure if you can pick up Divers Den items there or not - but I seem to remember reading here from someone that you can if you call in your order in advance. Maybe someone else can chime in with that answer. But even if you can, only Divers Den stuff is there - any other critters on LiveAquaria come from either California or Florida.

Divers den is completely different from DFS. I think they ship out of california. The retail store holds almost all of their dry goods, and a small section of marine livestock. They do however have a good deal on soft coral and several frags of SPS to chose from. I go up there about once a month and always come back with more than I should.

If you order a day in advance, you can pick-up Divers Den items at the retail store. Have done it a dozen times or more to save the shipping expense. The retail store selection is limited to the more basic fish and corals that would be best for a beginner. They do have a 90g tank with Aquacultured coral frags from their Aquaculture facility, prices range from $30 for a frag up to $80 for the rare stuff....good news all guarantees apply that you would see from LA ....14 day for fish and corals. Worth the trip if you have a dry good order, or Divers den coral/fish to pick-up. Not only saves money, but almost no stress on the creatures because they are in transit for only a few hours!!

Your thinking about Live aquaria, there out of CA
etropicals is out of Florida
and divers den is out of WI

OK - I think officerbogus is about to get confused. :)

DFS, Live Aquaria (with Divers Den) and eTropicals are all DFS.

eTropicals ships from Florida
Live Aquaria ships from CA (though I do believe their "build your own" CUC packs ship from FL)
Divers Den ships from Rhinelander and is separate from the retail store. (you can't just walk into the Diver's Den)
DFS ships their drygoods from Rhinelander

The DFS retail store has a VERY limited selection of dry goods. (any of the local fish shops almost have more dry goods on the floor than the DFS retail shop has) If you want dry goods and it's anything but the most basic stuff, definitely order a day (or so) in advance and let them know you'll be picking it up at the retail store. That way they can pull it from the warehouse for you.

I usually bring a catalog along and order items at the checkout in the retail store from the catalog....wait about 10 minutes or so depending on how many items you need, and they have them ready for you! Sometimes ready before you even go around to pick them up!

yea thats what i do also.. tell them the item # at the counter they will tell you to go to the warehouse where you can pick it up.
