Finally all the above fish have arrived and are being drip acclimated! Took long enough, but I finally got what I have been wanting for the last 2 years! Anyone know how to upload pics from an iphone to a thread?

Are you referring to a Mystery Wrasse? They can become quite aggressive... especially towards other wrasses.

Also, please QT those awesome fish. I just bought a male Rhomboid wrasse a week ago and he came in with pop eye. I QT'd him with the corresponding meds, but he had a VERY severe case of swim bladder issues (which I contribute to incorrect decompression) and unfortunately he did not make it. Definitely my favorite fish.

My rhomboid is 3.5" and the Mystery is barely 2". The rhomboid looms like a beast compared to him. So far the rhomboid bosses him around.

There are so many nice wrasses out there. This is an old thread so some of the pics might be missing but lots of great pics and info. Wrasses

Are you talking about replacing the rhomboid or the mystery? Personally, I think the contrasting color combinations on the rhomboid are unparalleled once they become established.

If you are replacing the mystery go with another passive fairy wrasse... Like a flame, possibly a labouti or exquisite. Some flasher wrasses can also be very docile and add a nice splash of color to a tank.

Mystery getting replaced with 2 female Rhomboids.....I am currently looking for a flame pair or maybe some other type flashers. Choices choices!!!

On another note, my Swalesi is actually starting to swim out more than hide.

I can't say where, but all those fish I just added I paid only $200!! Love having a friend in wholesale!

Every tank is different. The same goes for the fish. Just because one fish acts aggressive in one tank does not mean all fish of the same species will do that in other tanks. There is no hard and fast rule when it comes to captive behavior. With that said, I've had 3 rhomboids, a mystery, and a bunch of fairies, leopards, and other wrasses in a 300 for a long time and there is no chasing or aggression at all. Just wait and observe. If necessary, wrasses are generally easy to catch if you have a good trap and patience. Good luck.

Kenny gives sound advice. A local friend had the same types of wrasses, and it was nothing but fighting, constantly, in a 220g. You can never be sure of what will happen... but having a good fish trap, and being proficient at using it, will go a long way toward a successful and relaxing hobby :)

Wow nice Rhomboid! My Mystery Wrasse is always rushing at my Nemo and Hectors Goby:furious: . I also have a Swalesi Basslet that lives in my Durso overflow box and likes it there.
