Rhomboid qt procedure ?

bullitr

broke but happy
I will have a harem of rhomboid wrasse from my LFS today and want to qt only with prazipro and no cupramine as much as possible.

The qt will not have light on but I am worry about decompression if the diver brought them up too quickly. Any advice ?

You can do a Erythromycin treatment to help prevent swim bladder issues, but I don't think its a fool proof treatment.

How many did you get? The females don't look quite as healthy as the males from the pictures IMO. Is that true?

I love the rhomboids though. So beautiful. Good luck

Nice looking. Almost looks like two males in the first picture. If she's not male, she might be on her way. Aren't the females more pink-ish than gold color? I might be mistaken though.

Regardless, that big male is fantastic, great coloration.

Beautiful fish you have there. That male is awesome.

I have a male that has been in quarantine for about 10 days but I have not treated him with anything yet. He has not shown any indication of ich or flukes so I am just letting him settle in. He is eating pretty good. I will dose Prazipro pretty soon, but will hold off on the cupramine unless needed. Watching him close and monitoring the water quality. Basically it is the same program you are planning and has been good so far.

Not sure if you can really do anything about decompression issues. From what I have seen on RC, that seems to be a tough problem to beat.

Good luck!

Yeah
Unfortunately I special order 1 supermale and 4 females but I end up with
1 supermale
1 large submale
1 large female
2 smaller female

The large male and large female will be sold :(

They are all healthy
I took this picture less than 2 minutes after opening the bag and they start eating already good 30 seconds after this picture.

Good luck with them. Keep us posted how they are doing. I have a trio in QT for 1 week right now, my females are very active and eat well, but the male is always hiding in PVC and will only come out to eat.

I don't want to use copper if not necessary I don't do it on my Achilles

I am afraid of velvet that's why I qt for few weeks luckily my LFS done this for me .

I have used the same QT procedure as you on quite a few fairy wrasses. Don't treat anything with copper unless there is a reason too. I have had good luck with this procedure. Have had to run cupramine a few times with good success, but feel it does put a lot of stress on the fish so I only run it if I see a need to.

That being said, all my new arrivals get at least 6 weeks QT. Since that seems to be the stated life cycle for a lot of marine parasites (ich, velvet, etc.) I figure if it doesn't show up in that amount of time I should be in the clear.

Nice looking Rhomboids. I had a pair, but the female unfortunately took a ride down the overflow and got caught in a filter sock. Looking to replace her at some point. Good luck with yours.
