New owner of a Rhomboid Term male:

I know they can have swim bladder issues. I have a 20g Long qt but debating whether I should qt this guy or not. Went with sat delivery.

Current stock:

- Venustus angel
- Peppermint hogfish/ Bodianus sepiacaudus (crossing fingers I wont have issues with the Rhomboid)
- Macneill's Assessor
- Neon cleaner goby

I have mesh cover over DT and QT (I know they are jumpers). If I do QT and most likely I will, I would proceed with the prazi treatment.

Biggest question am I going to have an issue with the pep hog?

Tank is a DSA 105 gallon. I need to post that build soon.

I would def QT and treat with prazi. Observe for other issues, but I think every wrasse I've owned has come in with flukes - even from reputable suppliers.

I've never kept a hogfish, but they are very similar-looking to wrasses. Maybe pick up an acclimation box, just in case.

I started having problems with my Pep Hog after about 2 years, in with more than 20 wrasses, so I gave it away in June...since then I've added a few more wrasses including a pair of Rhomboids, that are doing great!
My LFS just got in another large shipment of Rhomboids for its Black Friday Sale, and I might get a couple more females.

Looking around online the price is sadly not far off. I looked at several online stores and most do not carry them or the the prices were $350 and up! This guy is a terminal male.

- bluezoo $400 for a male does not state terminal, $250 female
- reefs2go $356 for a male does not state terminal, $267 female

Quality marine seems to have raised the wholesale price.

TBH, I never spent this much money on a single fish before. The Venustus held that record and this guy killed it. If the CC hog becomes an issue he will be finding a new home. So far, the CC has a good personality and hasn't caused any issues with the other three fish. None of the other fish look like him though :/

I will put him in QT and treat with prazi. It will be a 21 day QT though because I need to take down the QT before Christmas due to location.

That's too much lol. Will your female turn to male? I heard even with a male a female can still convert to a male unless you have a super male to keep it in check. Divers den has another male up for sale.

Rhomboid is doing great! I just received him this morning and he is eating well in the QT. Looking forward to moving him in the DT! One problem, I have been bitten by the wrasse bug... however, I am close to limit of what I want to put in my 105 gallon. Don't want to overstock my tank. I *may* add one more fairy wrasse not sure yet.
