Ric wont stick?

Pirates Cove Reef
I have a nice shroom that was attached for about a year and then came off, the foot is the size of a nickel and I have not been able to get it to stick to anything. The mushroom looks healthy and is in a little container with rubble in a low flow area. Any tricks? I do not think a rubber band would work on this guy, but was thinking maybe a needle and some thin fishing line through the foot and tie him down. I have had him in the rubble for three months and I check him once a month and he is just laying on top with nothing connected to the foot. Thank you for any help.

The problem with rics and glue is they slime up and it's near impossible to get them to stay with glue alone. If you can dry the foot enough to use glue do it, but either way you should put it on the rock you want it on and then wrap it with tulle (wedding veil material, Michael's sells circles of it in the wedding favor/decor section). Then don't touch it for at least 2 weeks, not even to see if it's attached. Keep an eye on it though, if it starts to look slimy or brown give it a gentle spray with the turkey baster.

Good luck!

The Gel glue you advise is like the Permatex Superglue Gel like I use on my Acros? I have tried to glue shrooms with no sucess a couple times. I will pick up some vail material and give that a try, how tight do I do it? Thanks for the advice.

Yes, also called superglue. I just use Loctite brand cyanoacrylate. The LFS sells specialty-branded stuff as well, but I don't think there's any significant difference.

Some tricks to try are to GENTLY dry off the area to be attached w/ a microcloth towel, apply some gel & hold in place for ~ 1min. Not a lot of pressure, just enough to hold it in place. The slime can be a problem but you can avoid a lot of slime if you are very gentle.

Honestly it's hard to do and not uncommon for it to come off the first time you try. It can take multiple tries but I always get it to work eventually.

One thing to watch out for is that cyanoacrylate adheres very well to skin. It's not a big deal if you get some on your fingers (I do all the time), UNLESS you do something silly like press your fingers together (it happens!). This WILL bond skin-to-skin quite well causing you to need assistance getting them apart. DON'T TRY to force it if this happens, you'll rip your skin off! So be careful.

My 10 year old son broke his Nerf rifle, Mom told him to wait for Dad to fix it. He had both hands and his cheek glued to the gun when I got home from work and he was pretty upset and red skinned by the time we had him cleaned up, stuff works real good.

So glueing down the shroom will not hinder the growth or damage the foot, thanks for the help!
