more the better!!! last years meeting was a huge success, and we are expecting even more people this year.

the meeting is being held in Amelia (right beside the courthouse)....its an easy drive down 460 from Roanoke. so not technically all the way to Richmond. its at Twon8's place (Anthony), he has a 180g downstairs, a 90g upstairs....and some other tank(s) dedicated to frags etc. its a spectacular system of mostly sps and zoas. There is plenty of parking, and plenty of room to mingle as its actually at an old funeral home that he owns/operates and lives at.

there are going to be 2 separate raffles you can buy tickets for. one raffle will be all sps, and the other raffle will include zoas, lps, and other softies. each ticket costs $20, please let us know in advance how many tickets for each raffle you want.....so we can try and gauge how many frags to have at the meet.

I'm a transplant here in Christiansburg,VA from Southern California. Where do y'all meet and when? I belonged to several societies in the Los Angeles area and really miss it. We were in the heart of majir wholesalers too :( Walt Smith, Sea Dwelling Creatures (actually 3 or 4 whoelsalers on same street). Miss that too.

Thank you!

We usually meet monthly at a different members place... We are planning on traveling ( Some of us anyhow) to Richond , which is shaping up to be quite a showing ...

Welcome to the area....

don't expect to see the formality that you probably had in the SoCal. this are very informal meetings (hang-outs) in both Richmond and SouthWest Virginia. pretty much just people getting together, drinking some beers and getting some eats while looking at tanks. some trading and frag raffles here and there on occasion.

no dues, no speakers....and best of all....no drama ;)

DIRECTIONS

DIRECTIONS

here is the address for the meeting place:

16409 Court St.
Amelia, VA 23002

if you plan on going straight to the meet, the best way to get there from Roanoke, is to get on 460-east and head towards lynchburg. continue on 460-east past Appomattox, and past Farmville.

after passing Farmville, you will need to take a left onto VA-307 near the Rice, VA area. this is a 2-lane road that will take you directly to US-360-east.

at the end of VA-307, take a left onto US-360-east (i.e. PATRICK HENRY HWY).

go about 9 miles until you reach a stop light, and turn right onto Amelia Ave. you should see a sign pointing towards the Amelia courthouse at the intersection of 360 and Amelia Ave.

follow this road, and turn right at the first street, which crosses the railroad tracks. (state highway 1007).

when you get to the stop sign, drive directly across the street to Court St., you should see the courthouse on the right hand side of the road.

keep going down this road past the small stores, and you should come across the Woody Hayes funeral home on the right hand side of the street which is a white building. They all sort of look like old houses, and the house right before the funeral home is a vet, and the house across the street is a flower store. There is a big parking lot next to the funeral home, and across the street I believe.

if you plan on hitting up Atlantis Aquariums before you go to the meeting, the easiest way is to just get to Richmond via 81-north and 64-east. the new store is located just a couple of blocks down the street from the old store. instead of turning right to go to the old Atlantis store, keep going down Paterson Ave, and pass the cemetery on the left, Atlantis is right after the light on the left, there is blue neon sign and is the only store in the shopping center.

you can get to the meet from Atlantis by heading south on the bypass until you get to Hull Street Rd. proceed west on Hull Street.....which eventually turns into 360-west and will take you all the way to Amelia. just take a left at the light onto Amelia Ave. and you can head back to Roanoke via 460-west which is the fastest way IME.

let me know if you have any questions

Hey, it was good to meet some more of the SW VA reefers at the meet last night, Ade, Micheal, and someone else who's name escapes me. I hope everyone had a good time and the drive wasn't too bad (1 1/2hr from C'ville).

Josh, I/we had a blast. After going to see another guys tank in Richmond we didn't get home untill 4.30am.
Thanks for the corals by the way look great in the 33.
Thanks
Ade

A Guywas breaking down his tank and we went and took a look at what he had to offer. Hope that we talked him into keeping his stuff, he had some nice corals and he was thinking of setting up another office tank.
