I spray painted acrylic to color cordinate with my skimmer. my sump is the same way.

update

Well I thought that maybe I should update some pics showing the progress that I have made. So here you go.
I added about 200lbs of sand and water

I have wood floors under part of my stand so my wife and I decided to line the underside of the tank with pond liner. I also put some insulation behind the liner to help sound proof the room.

I have overflows. My buddy James came over and installed a couple of really nice overflows. Here are some pics. I'm not sure of all of the details so maybe James can explain how they will work.

My overflows work great. I plumbed them and I have had them running for about a week now and I could'nt be happier. This tank runs smoother and quieter than my 90 gallon. There are still a few things that I want to do with my drains but before I got to far I wanted to make sure that everything worked well. Here are few pics.
Left overflow. I wanted to see if the overflow would keep up with the water hose. It did just fine. No gushing or anything just smooth flow.

similar setup on the right side

the only visible plumbing under the tank. other than the returns on the other side.

and look they even skim the surface. Perfectly I might add, the water level is at the widest part of each circle.

the water has settled nicely. Here are some pics with a few rocks from my other tank to help seed it.

I still have to do a few small things like paint the plumbing and build my light rack but were making progress. Now that the system is running well I will probably start hanging drywall this weekend and clean up the mess that I made of our wall

sorry I didnt realize how dirty the back glass was before I posted pics. I will clean it and take a few more pics for you guys. My wife and I were also looking for some good Ideas for the aquascape so feel free to post pics if you have something that I might like. Thanks for viewing.

sweet set up! how r u liking the vortechs? flow wise, noise ect?

thanks. When I decided to build this tank I new that one of the most important things was that it was quiet. The vortecs were loud at first but after they broke in they were great. Keep in mind though that they are in my fish room. They do have a hum that I consider to be a little noisy. It does seem though that my version of noisy may differ from your opinion. This 450 is quieter than my 90 gallon. My wife has a 24 gallon nano on the opposite wall of this tank and if you stand in the middle of the room you can hear the nano over the big tank. As far as flow they work pretty good. I still am going to add a couple of tunze's on each end of the tank.

I have been trying to put together a good fish list and wanted to know what everyone thought. I really like tangs and would love to have a ton but I know that probably wont work. I tried to pick mostly dossile tangs for the most part from different families, but some that I really like are from the same fam. Let me know what you think.

Sorry that I have not posted in so long, I have just been really swamped. I have made some progress to the tank though. Here are some pics. Sorry the pics are so bad, hopefully santa brings me a new camera for christmas. Pics are taken under 1 250 watt metal halide. I now have 3 250 watt 12k's along with 8 39 watt t-5 actinics. I will be upgrading to 400 watt halides soon, just not sure how soon. I did buy some fish the other day so we will see how they do in shipping. I should be getting them by nest friday. I will take some pics when they arrive.

I am building a curtain rack behind the tank so that I can hang a black background. I figure you people are probably getting tired of looking into my laundry room.
