Ricky's 120 Stony Coral Garden

I don't have any experience building tanks.
But I do know that the silicone that you see on the inside of the tank that rounds out the interior corners plays no part in structural integrity. Only the silicone that is inside the joint or actually between the panes of glass provide strength.
When you get a leak, it means that a small section of that structural glue has given out. To me this suggests the beginning of a larger potential failure to come... Maybe this isn't always the case but I certainly wouldn't take that chance.
When you plug the leak by adding silicone to the inside of the tank, you do not fix the larger potential issue of structural integrity, you only stop the water from coming out.
Like I said, I'm no tank building pro but I would not use a tank that has leaked unless it had been completely re-glued, not just re-sealed.

Also, you mentioned that your current stand isn't completely level and your current tank is several years old.. I am of the understanding that although silicone is somewhat flexible and can flex a little if the tank is on a slightly non level stand, but after several years, I think that the silicone dries out a little in the salt water and becomes a little less flexible. If you fix your stand and use the same tank, it will have to re adjust to the new leveling with its older and not so flexible silicone, this may cause it to leak as well...

Thankfully after sending pictures to Marineland they are going to replace the tank. I should have the new one on Wednesday.

Love hearing stories about manufacturers standing behind their product.

Looking forward to photos of the new tank!

I will be returning my tank on Sunday and picking the new one up on Wednesday. I lost my 8" Red Dragon and ORA Roscoe's. The Purple Turaki is beginning to peel. Luckily I have plenty of Red Dragon in my frag tank and I have two pieces of Turaki at a friend's.

I have been following your tank, and previous set up for along time. I am glad you're staying in, you have a talent for the hobby.

That's awesome they replaced the tank...lets see some pics..

I will post pics once I have fish and coral. The tank is cycling and I am waiting for a part for my protein skimmer. I am going to give ZEOvit a try this time around as well as adding a thin sandbed.
