rics under mh

I have some rics under a 175 10k MH about 13 inches below it. They seem healthy but arent growing. I was wondering if this is due to them being blasted by the light or maybe something else. they've been in the tank for 3 months and I dont see any growth. parameters are amm-0 rites-0 rates-0 ph-8.2 ca-440
I've read that they need iodine but I dont have a test kit for iodine and havent been able to find one therefore I dont want to dose it. Any help is appreciated thanks:D

Feed them once or twice a week. Your tank is probably too clean. Florida's do not take much. But Yumas can eat like pigs. Frozen mysis shrimp work great for all but very small rics of both types.

Rics are funny animals. Their is no consistency as far as growth goes. ive had identical ones side by side, one grew and split the other...nothing. both were under mh so they do grow and split under this lighting. Never fed mine though give that try.

I had 2 of the same ricodea heads in different locations in the same tank for a year now they still havent split/grown i havent tried feeding them either

Flow helps too. My rics reproduce quite a bit because they get some decent flow, but they're also about 30 inches below a 20K 175w MH.

allright cool thanks guys, i know now that im not cooking em. so with the mysis just 1 mysis per mouth and how do u feed with tweezers or something like that?

Use a turkey baster and turn off any extra current flow. Thaw the mysis cube in a small container with some tank water. Draw the shrimp in and gently squeeze a few onto each ric and whatever else could use some food.

Hi pipefish, Mysis shrimp is not really the best food for them. Use small pieces of cut up raw unsalted shrimp. Make sure the shrimp is from the ocean and not a frshwater species The commercially available mysis shrimp is of a freshwater species, it does not have the right types of fatty acids needed by the Ricordea for proper nutrition. Just my .02.

ahhhh ok ill find some i did feed some mysis on a couple occasions and they seemed to readily accept it but i understand the nutrition factor. so like uuhh tiger prawns or something like that or salad shrimp?
