This tank was fully intended to be a grow out section. In fact Iv used it several times over the course of about a year and a half as a qt and frag tank. Not sure what got hold of me. But I went a little crazy and just full on set up another tank in my home office. Great. The wife's really happy with that :P

So the tanks cycling now. Before I make any changes I figured I'd make a post for funzies. Feel free to ask any questions should you think of any.

What you'll see:
Tank - Rimless 8 Gallon Biocube
Stand - Custom cabinet
Light setup - Radion Xr15wPro
Return pump - Rio Plus 400
Power head - Koralia Nano
Controller - Dj power strip
Also replaced outlet behind stand with gfci and cut a hole in my stand so it fits snugly against the wall

What's to come:
Ato
Apex jr
Mp10
Sump
Fuge section

Happy reefing all B)

Water is crystal clear at this point. Doing some testing today. Should add cleanup crew in the next day or so. Ato addition coming this weekend. I'll post the process and gear I end up using.

Thanks guys.

Finally cut my hole for my door in anticipation of adding my ato this weekend. Here's a few pics from the process.

Base coat on the door was the wrong sheen. So I'll be sanding it down a touch and adding another coat of matte black sometime in the following week.

When you took the rim off how did you handle this part of the trim? Making it so straight and clean looking

the part where the trim meets the chambers or the back of the tank.

I decide to try my hand at a little more diy for the ato. Pretty straight forward. 1 Aqua lifter + 2 float switches = most cost effective ato Iv ever done. 1 float in the return section and another float for redundancy. Nothing worse than water on the carpet. Problem solved. Also added a check valve so water doesn't siphon back into my ato reservoir. Ato line dips down under the water to minimize noise. Welp. Here's some pics. Hope you all enjoy. Seems pretty quiet out there though :P

Nice progress so far.

I would say the algae bloom at this point is just the usual post cycle bloom from all the shiny new equipment; should die off once the plastics have leached any phosphates remaining. A skimmer on a 8 gallon would be overkill IMO and you'd get better nutrient export from water changes.
