Rimless Aquarium Club

HI Everyone

I am thinking of making my own rimless tank. I am in Bangkok, and cant get a tank maker to do one for me unless I pay more than a months salary.

I have chatted with a tank maker in the UK who said go for it and researched tank making methods. My tank dimensions are 48 inch x 30 x 30 made from 19mm Diamant glass (about 3/4 inch). Factory will cut to size for me and buff the edges.

Just a question on bracing. Do tank makers in the USA brace rimless tanks on the base of the tank? There are no differences in applying silicone are there - as apposed to a normal braced tank?

Many thanks

Brett

I might also need some of you Austin, TX folks around to help me with my next rimless tank. It has starfire on all four side, and built by A.G.E . Get ready for it...10 gallon nano (16 x 14 x 10). I was told its done, and soon to be in Austin.

This is my absolute favorite thread, I lost it but now I've found it!
I hope to be joining you all soon!
Gathering quotes from AGE ... trying to decide on what size.

Rimless, low profile (more wider/deeper than tall/high), starphire, etc...

Not sure on closed loop or power heads...what do you all think?
90 - 150 gallons will be the size, is that worthy of closed loop?

143 who did your tank?

I had it done by glass cages. They did an awesome job on the silicone.

if I could do it all over again I would have went with a 48x30x24! my current tank is a 36x24x24 and now I wish I had more room under the stand for equipment and sump!

Thanks tigerarmy40!

I still have the old system. All cleaned up in the garage currently. It's for sale if you are interested. :)

Here is my new rimless starphire tank. It is starphire on all sides. It is 36.5 x 26x 16.75 inches. It comes out to 69 gallons. It is made by AGE. It has an external overflow with two inch drains. One drain is for an emergency drain. I have a left back wall return. The picture below is from the AGE shop. I have started a thread on my build of this tank if anyone is interested.
