Lol, I have been actually following this thread. It's a small world after all.
HAHA! yeah! So what do you think? :)

We are plumbing it on the weekend. Water and rock will be in

It looks great so far! I like how you guys matched the room color to the BK skimmer. It's like it's god or something. The drawers are also a nice feature. The cube is my greatest interest (as it should be). The dimensions are perfect.

Well, just joined the rimless club myself.
Here's my 67g solana xl
It's still a bit new, hasn't filled in yet or coralined up yet, but getting there.

I am told I have to let my tank sit for a couple of wks before filling with water after waiting four months :(
I have a regal tang that really acquired a taste for SPS and has destroyed a lot of corals. I can't wait to change over to the new tank so that I can get rid of this evil fish!

Can't wait to see your tank filled with water. Looks good as is, just imagine when the lights are on and full of corals...

I will post pics of mine soon as it comes. It's almost the same dimension as you tank.

Love the tanks guys! I got a quick question. I am thinking of building my own tank, and I got a quote on the glass cut from glass cages wondered what you thought of this price. Tank dims. are 36'' x 30'' x 20'' starfire front glass. Price was $315 plus $45 delivered to Dallas (2 hour drive). What do you think?

Anyone?

Thanks
Dustin

What dimensions did you go with? Rimless? Starphire?

a couple weeks? WHY? Thats ridiculous! Never heard of that before.

Silicone doesn't take weeks to cure...This is why I like acrylic...Just as clear as starphire glass.

I bought one of their tanks. Mine is very well built. The only thing I wish I would have done is paid a few extra bucks for the black silicone.

Did you say RIMLESS?? I will let you guess that one!

60 X 28 X 22. No starphire.

And I still prefer glass over acrylic, does not scratch easily.
When the tank finally comes it may take me a wk or so to plumb everything and set up. By then the silicone should be fully cured.
Pics to follow soon..

Dustin,

If you feel confident building it yourself then by all means.

Personally I would rather just buy one of their many standard sizes since that puts the onus on them to make a functional tank.

GC makes good tanks at an even better price. Just inspect it really well when you pick it up in case their are any problems.

Good luck,

James

Dustin i got a quote from them for the same size thank w/out the front starphire tho. It was $336, built. I would also get it drilled with 2 bulk heads, overflow and acrylic insert and shipping to florida and would be about $550 if i remember correctly. I would say just let the experts build it and like jamesdawson said inspect it very good before you take it home.

I was told anything that isn't solvent based is best, solvent based paints can weaken the silicone on the glass, I went for a water based acrylic paint, you will need to put on plenty of layers as once your lights are on they will penetrate through I put between 8-10 layers on.
