Rimless Aquarium Club

I believe the 2nd and 7th slot are dusk/dawn

Was thinking:

Front
Blue +
Fiji Purple
Blue +
KZ New Generation
Blue +
Fiji Purple
Blue +
KZ New Generation

or

Front
Blue +
Fiji Purple
Blue +
KZ New Generation
Blue +
Fiji Purple
Blue +
Blue +

i'm scared of the 6500 because I heard it's very yellow

You hardly notice the yellow of the 6500k when you have it paired with so many Blue+ bulbs, that's why I liked it. When you put it next to any bulb around 10-12k, it's tough to tell the difference, hence my jump to the AS 15k to actually see a difference.

That being said, your second combo would definitely be the one I'd choose. If you're switches are 2 and 7 for dusk/dawn - I would try this:

1 Blue+
2 Blue+
3 FP
4 Blue+
5 KZ New Gen, Aquascience, GE - whatever you choose for daylight spectrum
6 Blue +
7 Fiji Purple
8 Blue +

You just don't want to lead with a FP bulb up front in any combination that might be on by itself, always put it behind a Blue+. You may also want to just ditch the Fiji Purple in slot 7 and leave it a Blue+ as well - I'd buy an extra bulb and have it available to try out when you set it up.

Thanks bud, I'll probably go with this. You think one fiji purple will be sufficient...just use a blue+ in the 7th slot? I'll blue an extra bulb just in case.

I'm thinking about trying a rimless. Where is a good place to get one from, or any tank in general? I want to upgrade to a 220

hey snaza - it depends on the builder you ask. i've asked that same question to different builders, same dimensions and all, and one said 1/2" is okay and one insisted on 3/4

Just thought I'd share my new 30"x14"x30"

[/IMG] built it myself out of 1/2" glass. 32 x 30 x 21 with a false back that serves as a coast to coast overflow

I am planning a DIY rimless ~10 gallon acrylic tank w/ External Overflow. I used an online calculator for thickness, and it said I need at least .290" acrylic to do rimless. So 3/8" acrylic is what I am planning. The plan is 14x14x13. Does 3/8" sound reasonable to you guys? Does anyone have a tank with similar specs? I looked through 50+ pages of this thread and didn't see anything too similar.

wow, that is a pretty awesome looking setup! liking the stand a lot, its nice, white and very elegantly done :)

Thanks SolRNY, I was a little hesitant at first to go white, but I am very happy with how it all turned out. I really like the white with the Rimless tank
