Rimless Aquarium Club

Hi!

Just wondering, since you guys do have rimless, do you struggle with fish jumping? A LOT of mine fishes died that way! And my aquarium is not even rimless.

Hope u can help me,
Ken.

Is there a good way to hid wires in a rimless

Is there a good way to hid wires in a rimless

I currently have a 30 gallon tank and a 30 gallon fuge. I'd like to upgrade to a 57 or 75 gallon tank and am thinking about going rimless. I love the clean look. My only concern is the aesthetics of having wires going over the top of the tank for the circulation pumps.

Is there away around this problem ?

The tanks I am thinking of are pre-drilled on the bottom. Is it possible to put a "T" in the overflow (drain) pipe and have a wire going into the tank through that "T" (maybe with the pipe coming up so no water would flow out.

Or how about drilling another hole in the side of the tank for the cord and sealing it with a bulkhead and silicone ? Any thought would be greatly appreciated !

hi I am planning a new aquarium

Spec: 36 x 16 x 16 True Rimless Starfire Display (40g)
Lighting: Ecotech Radion (Single)
Lighting Mount: Cad light lamp tree
Flow: Single Vortech MP 10 ES

16g sump
Fuge with light
carbon/GFO bags
Skimmer: Eshopps In-Sump Cone Skimmer S-120 (Sicce SK-200) or a Super Reef Octopus 1000 (Bubble Blaster 1000)
Sicce 2.0 Return pump

What fish can be kept in a rimless?

I am thinking clownfish, cardinal fish and a chromis? what others?

nevermind i see thats its the profilux fan unit. can someone tell me the size of the fans used and if its possible to replace them with new ones if they fail?

Just picked up a deep blue 75 rimless last week!

i would love to do another rimless build but i lost a few fish from jumping needless to say the wife wasnt happy with that since a couple were pricey so she wants me to get a tank with a lid so im taking advantage of her telling me to get a lid and getting a bigger tank with a lid. not sure why my clown fish jumped i had them for a almost 1.5 years i wonder if i just had my water level to high

My tank is done and I will be picking it up this week. The stand I have built is actually larger than the tank (it fits inside a cubby in my living room)...I have feet on the bottom of the stand in order to get the stand as level as I possibly can but here is the issue, the top of the stand is a flat large piece of 2" thick wood...I know I should put something under the tank as padding but I have no trim pieces on the top to hide the padding. I am wondering if anyone has used padding that all but disappears under the tank. My main goal for this tank is modern and clean (very minimalist)...I just need to figure out how to support the tank but not let padding be seen...

Where are you from? You see I cant do that here in Canada in the winter....

I've noticed humidity problems much more in the summer than in winter all things considered. I would assume that has something to do with the colder air being much less suitable to hold enough humidty to begin with.

I have a 100 Gallon cube in my living room, which is not large by any means. In the summer I am either running A/C, which dehumidifies the air by itself.... or I have the windows open.

In the winter I really haven't noticed all that much humidity problems. If I were to have them though, the only real option would be to run a dehumidifier.

As far as taking care of jumpers. I have made a screen top with a home depot screen window kit ($13), and some clear mesh screen material from www.BulkReefSupply.co.

For those that complain about the screen being ugly.... I take it off when I'm home. It literally takes 10 seconds to take the screen off the tank and tuck it behind the tank against the wall.

Some of the fish in my tank cost me over $250, some others I've had over 5 years (these are worth more to me than any of my "expensive" fish). Even if I had Euro-Bracing I'd still be running a screen top haha.
