Landy,
Thats a nice stand you have. I like the tile work. Is that aluminum angle on the outside corner of the tank. Is it for strength or looks?

thanks, i think it turned out great AND a lot more work than i bargined for.

as for the edge trim, its for looks. i thought it kinda tied the fixture into the tank. also, the glass came from glass cages and the edges arent perfect so it kinda hides that as well.

Thank you. I got the tank from a LFS here in Miami, FL. Unfortunatey they are no longer in busness. The stand is a home made stand. Its made of 3/4" plywood and plastic laminate. The black part is painted poplar solid wood. The LFS that had the larger tank is VIP Reef in Miami, FL. Thanks again.

Hey everyone, my 114gallon build is moving along. While working on the stand and related safety, I remembered a product I used for my tiling projects and was curious to see if anyone has used it, has thoughts etc. This product is the orange matting called Schluter-DITRA. It's used to help stop delamination from sheer forces.

I was considering this product as a replacement for styrofoam as the buffer between the tank bottom and the stand.

Proud new member with a 36x24x18 starphire front black silicone GC rimless tank.

I noticed that the tank has no inner silicone work, is this normal???

Debating whether to go with a bean animal/calfo c2c overflow or go with a more standard back wall centered standpipe overflow. Any suggestions?

Do the Bean/calfo. I have the Bean on my tank and absolutely love it. I highly recommend it :fun2:

I have the exact same size tank. Did tons of research and learned from my mistakes. Personally I would go with a herbie overflow. Neat, simple, dead quite and failsafe. This is my build. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2002408

Think I'm leaning towards a top/bottom centered back wall overflow as opposed to the bean/calfo as of right now. Not sure if I'm going Herbie, but think I got the actual overflow location set.

Mine has a very tiny one almost not worth mentioning so I would say, no there is not supposed to be one.

Was this supposed to be removed? The tank is also eurobraced just curious what other GC tank owners had experienced if i had to guess i would say the tank is probably 5yo thx

I think if it has eurobracing and trim up top its not really considered a rimless aquarium. If the trim you are refering to looks like the one in this video, then I would leave it alone.

The point behind rimless is to build with thicker glass to avoid trim or eurobracing.

Then again I'm not 100% sure, just logically speaking.

Hello rimless club members! Just one question to all.

How have you folks been dealing with massive evaporation? Especially in the winter?
I for one has issues with mould growing in the frame of my windows due to a lot of condensation stemming from high humidity levels. I almost want to rid of my tank or at least cover it and do away with the rimless look.

I leave my windows open all night and all day until I get home from work. This also really helps with keeping the PH stable.
