Rio pump quit working

I purchased an aqua C remora pro about 4 months ago, and sometimes when I shut the Rio pump off (during water changes, feeding phytoplankton etc) and go to plug the pump back in, it wont restart. It did this one before and I had to yank it out and fiddle with it for a time. Any reason why?

Rio is notorious about doing that...do a seach on RC on Rio, and your will see that basiclly, thay are pieces of crap..

Hi Mike,

Certain Rio pumps can indeed have trouble starting up after they have been shut down. They don't seem to handle being turned on and off as well as some of the other pumps. However, if you clean the pump regularly, it will help to minimize this issue. When you feed phytoplankton, you can remove the collection cup rather than turning off the pump. This will help to reduce the wear and tear on the pump.

Alternatively, you can use the Mag Drive 3 pump with the Remora instead. The Mag Drive 3 is a higher quality pump and will actually give you better performance as it is rated for pressure much better than the Rio.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
Joseph
