RIP Dana Tobias

A lot of people here have seen it on Facebook that Dana passed away yesterday. But I know a lot of his friends do not know this. Dana the owner Shark Reef & he had a rare cancer that was incurable. He was very positive up till the very end. I just thought I would let the rest of his friends know.

Dang.. My sincerest condolences, as I've had the privilege of being in his store to feel his positive vibes. Always addressed everyone by their first names and made a tremendous effort to remember all. He touched my life for sure, and will do my best to keep that positivity that he shared and lived by. I am very saddened to hear this news. He was always upbeat, positive and very kind. The last time I saw him was during last few days the store was open. I spoke to him once afterwards on the phone. He will be missed. Thanks for letting us know.

I'm pretty sure that I met him at a MACNA conference along the way. This is sad news, my memory is of a real nice guy.

Tragic loss for his friends, family, and the reefing community. Dana was an awesome dude and very helpful. It was really cool to see his store packed during his liquidation sale, but with people looking to help and offer words of encouragement and not really looking for deals.

I was just going to say the same thing. I was only in his store a couple times, it's pretty far from me, but he would always treat me like someone he really knew, introducing me to other and talking to me like a friend. Very sad news.

I've had the pleasure to meet Dana a few times. On one occasion we spoke for HOURS at the shop. Truly a great person to connect with. Such a cruel and unforgiving world we live in, may he rest in peace.....
