Ritteri's on LA

Since I have just upgraded my tank, and plan doing the same with my lighting, I was wondering if there is anything against having a Ritteri in a 90 for 4 years for my False Perc pair?

If I feel that there are enough people saying that it would be okay, I will begin the mission of trying to find a healthy specimen. Honestly, the only place I have been able to find them in on DFS divers den:

Any thoughts from ANYONE (hopefully some stories or theories from people who have had one) would be greatly appreciated!:)

Magnifica is by far my favorite anemone.

More of us have lost them, then kept them alive for over a year. Even with dedicated tanks, the success rates are dismal. Personally lost a well establish specimen after relocating it to a larger established tank, disappointed does not quite capture the event :>(

fwiw: a 14 day guarantee is meaningless for a magnifica, they have been known to decline for months prior to final meltdown. Again personal experience.

If you have not been keeping anemones for a few years, frankly, I would avoid that species. Even if you did, I would avoid that species.

Yep, there are many places offering them. Unfortunately ease and quantity available are not synonymous.

Magnifica's are not an easy species to keep. Although I have been keeping anemones for over 20 years, I have stayed away from them until recently. The one I have has been growing for 6 months in one of my tanks and I am keeping my fingers crossed.

IME over the years of being able to go to wholesalers and visit 3-4 LFS per week, I have found that you would be lucky if there was one healthy magnifica for every 30 you see. There is no way I would trust anyone to pick a magnifica for me or for me to choose one based on a still photo.

Like Scott said, I have seen even obviously sick magnificas last a month or even two in dealers tanks before they finally died. The guarantee wouldn't mean much in this case.
