I have the RKE and after the 1.0.5 update everything runs flawlessly. For $490 you get just about everything out of the box that most people could need. Add a 2 more PC4's(another 8 outlets) @ $90 each compared to $300 for the Profilux 6 outlet power strip and thats what sold me. Plus I got the Moon Controller for free. The ability to control the RKE remotely will be available soon for less than $200, as well as dimmable lighting controls, and wavemaker abilities all for a total of around $1000 for everything under the sun.

Get a profilux package with all the bells and whistles and your looking at over $2000

I'm also an RKE early-adopter. There were some relatively minor early firmware bugs but DA has been superbly responsive in soliciting user feedback and releasing FW updates. My RKE system has been running flawlessly. I'm montoring pH, controlling ORP and Temp., running my ATO, lights, pumps and skimmer. It looks sweet and is extrememly easy to setup and operate. We're expecting additional software changes (again based upon user input) to increase its capabilities even further.
No buyers-remorse here.

... Here's a good question for anyone who travels...can you not only monitor but make changes remotely....that's a big driver for me...and the ACIII can do that out of the box.

With the ACIII, using the built-in webserver, I can modify my programming as well as override outputs with manual control when I'm on the road.

For status monitoring the built-in webserver will display current values, 1024 data points from probes, as well as graphically displaying the data values.

When on the road I also have mine send my cellphone all the input and output values in the morning and the evening. That's on top of sending the input and output values whenever there is an alarm condition, including power failures.

Does DA have this printed somewhere? I know they have wireless capability, but I have never seen where they have said you could "control the head unit" wireless or by the computer.

This was the main reason I got rid of my ACjr. I got a new laptop and no way to connect my laptop to the controller without spending a bunch of money on something that may or may-not work.

I thought about the AC3 dew to it's internet & web server control ability but then I seen about the RKE, and not being a big fan of Neptune's personnel, I rolled the dice and went with the RKE.

With regards to RKE....

I'd love to see more details about the upcoming network adapter, email/SMS alert capabilities?, and software for the RKE. These are all NEED TO HAVES in my evaluation criteria.

Also I'd like to see more details on the ALC. How much control will we get over the DALI (Aqua Illumination, etc) capabilities (Profilux goes all out on this). Gradual Sunrise/Sunset, Storms and Clouds, Kelvin adjustment, brightness adjust, etc.

What about a controllable dosing pump like Aquatronica & Profilux?

I know all these things may come in the future...the RKE seems very expandable.

Profilux for me, Its easy and bullet proof.
I had a neptune and did not care to write C+ script. LOL

the biggest factor for me was the dosing pump that you can get with profilux. i finally made the decision that randy's two part was the way that i was going to do ca/alk supplementation long term (not a ca reactor) and therefore for me profilux was the winner. the dosing pumps are very nice are are working very well for me.

I bought a Profilux about 9 months ago and really like it, it's a bit expensive but it's very stable and has a lot of module/expansion available.

I have had my profilux for awhile now and love it. I do agree that it can get expensive.

Which controller allows to you to control the pH of 20 tanks?

That would be the RKE. You can monitor 64 tanks if you wish, or control 32.

32 PH probes, and 32 devices to control the PH with.

When you mean expandable... how does the expandability compare to that of AC 3?

It has a more modular design than the AC3. With the AC3 the probes all tie to the head unit. There are expansions for probes with the ACIII but they are quite expensive. Also, there is no Advanced lighting control for the ACIII. Since RKE uses modules (much like the Aquatronica) for expandability, it becomes much more flexible in customizing for your specific needs. Go check out each website and you'll see what I mean.

One of the things I'm confused about is whether we can control the tank settings via the internet. (I believe AC3 can right out of the box).

While reading RKE's website, it says that it's an optional module and currently working in progress. (does this mean that I will need to shell out more $ for this feature?)

The positive side about RK is that I've heard good customer service from their end, while AC3 is pretty poor. But it may be because the RKE is new and they have tons of fire to put out.

Yes, you will need an additional module for RKE that won't be released until later this year.

AC3 is ready to roll out of the box.

I do think the Digital Aquatics (makers of RK) do have excellent support/service.
