RO Buddie Constantly Leaking

Not sure if this is in the right forum but I couldn't find any other one that would fit...

Anyway, I have an RO Buddie and it constantly leaks from the part where the "good water" output hose clicks into the unit. The fittings are the type where you push in the hose and then it secures and won't come out unless you hold down the little piece inside. The blue clips that come with are useless. I have since purchased an add on DI unit, it has the same type of fitting and is also leaking. Any suggestions on how to stop this from happening?

You have to push the hose in quite far, there is a part where it stops, maybe 1/4" in, and then you can push it another 1/4" or so with a stronger push, then lock it down. I have the same unit and no leaks on mine. I would probably try it with new hose also.

Thanks P. I'm pretty sure it's as far in as it can go. I've really given it a good push repeatedly on both. I bought some standard clear 1/4" tubing from the hardware store and have used different pieces. Do you think I need to buy the one from the manufacturer? Also, what do you mean by "lock it down"? Is that the blue clip?

Is it a murloc push connect fitting? You have to push it in very hard to make sure it's secure. Also, I'd re-cut the blue hose and make sure the cut is as straight as possible. if there's a slight angle in your cut it will leak. good luck

Some of those fittings have a little insert that goes into the hose before it goes into the push fitting. If I were you I'd probably just see if I could find completely new ones at home depot or lowes. Or order them online from brs or somewhere. They are all pretty much standard size 1/4", but some fittings and hose is better than others.

Make sure you're using the polyethylene tubing, it's not air line tubing or anything like that, it's thinner walled and much stiffer. Most aquarium shops have it for pennies, they call it RO tubing. Also, cut it with a razor blade or a box cutter so that it doesn't crush when you cut it.

Basically, take the blue clip out, you'll see it is holding a sleeve out away from the body of the fitting. You need to depress that sleeve against the fitting body and push the hose in as far as it will go - Probably a good 1/2 - 3/4". Then you can release the sleeve and re-insert the blue clip.

Did you cut the hose to fit? If the cut isn't really level and a nice sharp cut it's likely not to seat right, causing leaks. I helped a friend install his RO Buddie and I made the mistake of cutting it on a slight angle with a slightly dull utility knife. That connection leaked like mad until I went back and cut it level with a really sharp knife.

Also, as mentioned, the fittings need to be pushed in twice to secure them.

Update : I got some new tubing from LFS and ensured to cut it as straight as possible. Its not perfect but much better...still getting some minor dripping from one of the connections. The RO Buddie tubing does seem thicker...might be because its not clear. I'm gonna try ordering some of that specific tubing and see if that makes it perfect. Thanks again.

Just replace the fitting..(never seen the ro buddie though so I'm assuming it has one) Oring inside could just be bad,etc...

And its push in all the way hard.. then try to pull it back out without pressing down the release ring. That sets the teeth and the oring
