how do i set up my ro/di so i can make 5-10 gallons of water without it overflowing all over my kitchen?

i'm tired of setting the microwave kitchen timer, and my wife is tired of me using the towels to dry the floor...

I purchased a float shut off from marine depot not sure if it would work in this case but when the can fills with water to a certain point it shuts off the ro/di.

i have a spectrapure underneath my kitchen sink. it has a 1/4" tube with a manual spigot on it (on the end of a 3' piece of tubing).

I didn't trust the float valve alone so I bought a garden hose timer at Lowes. I converted the garden hose to 1/4" on both ends. It has several different ways to program it. You can program it to only run for a set amount of time or come on every day or every few days and run for a set amount of time. If I remember correctly, it was under $20.
