ro/di booster pump??

A little background ... we have a well on our house and we currently have a 75 gpd ro membrane ... i wanted to look at adding a booster pump to increase the efficiency of the system - in what cases are they helpful and how do you set them up?? i have a float switch on my ro reservoir that shuts the ro system off when the container is full - thanks.

They use a pressure switch that will shut the pump off when it senses the back pressure. Its a bad pic but you can see mine mounted here in the pic with a pre-filter mounted before the pump and then from the pump it runs into the system. The small board next to the booster pump has the pressure switch that controls the power to the booster pump. When you shut the flow off from the RO/DI unit it kills the pump power and hence the boost of water pressure.

Aquatec suggests a filter before the pump to protect the pump. You can set it up as pictured above, or we have a less expensive quick connect screen you can use ahead of the pump.

so, do you install the the pressure switch between my di cannister and my holding tank or between the ro system and my di cannister?? Thanks.

Hopefully you are storing your DI water in an unpressurized reservoir, rigged up with a float valve or another type of shut off. If so, you can put the booster pump shut off in the tube between that shut off and the DI cartridge.

correct, the current setup has a 40 gallon container with a float valve and pressure switch combo on the ro system so that it fills it and then turns the water off ... thanks for the reply.

But if your water supply is like our lovely city supplied one its nice having the prefilter like the one I have before the booster pump and the one in the RO/DI system itself. That thing gets nasty pretty quick and I`m sure a smaller one would clog rather quickly. I feel safer with it protecting the mebrane in the booster pump

And they want to raise our water rates claiming they supply us with pristine water....I should date and then send them one of my filters and show what I can filter out in just 30 days of use.

fortunately, i am on well water and the water is pretty clean coming out of the tap ... i will probably just start with this filter and see how it goes and how frequently it fills up

that would be hilarious to send the filter off to the city though - great stuff!

okay, i hooked up the pressure switch and pump today ... i have the switch after my di cartidge and before my container ... but, when the float switch on the container shuts it off (container full), the pump keeps running - what am i doing wrong??
