RO/DI filter question

Murphs205

gotta love saltwater.....
When i got the 200 tank , it also came with a Kent RO/DI unit . when the guy unhooked it he left all the water in the unit , i took it apart last night and the filters were covered in a yellowish grit , when i washed the under the sink it started to come right off , just not to sure if they will be any kind of good

I would replace the prefilter cartridge but you should be able to use the carbon block and the DI unit. Did the guy tell you how long they had been in service? If the DI unit is the kind that changes color that should give you an idea of how much life it has left.

I agree, just replace them all...open the valves up and allow the carbon residue and di residue to run off....then rock and roll....

I also would replace them all (except the RO membrane). I used to use The Filter Guys, but finally after having it beat into my head that "spectrapure was the best" I decided to try their DI Resin out. It's already lasted over twice as long as my previous DI's. I'll only be purchasing their filters from now on.

There's also a disinfection procedure you'll probably want to perform on the unit before you install the filters. I have it here somewhere. I'll have to see if I can dig it up for you.

The rule of thumb I've seen... is 6 months like clockwork for replacing all your pre-filters, and the DI every time you start to see TDS in the output.
