RO/DI Ice Cubes???

I was listening to the radio this week and they had a discussion on a new product in the grocery stores, Purified Spring Ice Cubes. Basically they took bottled water and put it in Ice tray form. They were selling it for about $5-$8 for a few trays. The reason they think it will sell is that people spending $80 a bottle for good liquor shouldn't let the taste be spoiled by ice cubes made from bad water.

So I was thinking, have any of you used your RO/DI system to make ice cubes? Is there any noticable difference?

Man I should start selling ice!!!

I have been doing this since I moved here. My ice maker is not hooked up to the water or filtered. The water at my house, according to my TDS meter, is ~400 ppm... Because of the heat I started making RO/DI (2-4 ppm TDS) ice cubes to help cool the tank :D . Since I use the RO for drinking water i just started using it to make ice cubes. No chunks in my water when melting!

Same here, my wife is as big of a water freak as my reef. Purified water for the ice maker for the past several years. Some of the refigerators with auto ice makers have a built in filter not as good as RO/DI, but better than tap
