tthnow - What's your PPM reading on your tap water. Folks here in Northern CO don't use RO and some DI because the water out of the tap is like 6 ppm. Here in Denver it's 150, which is low but unless you farm algea, RO/DI is one of those must have items.

You cannot really go by TDS numbers either. TDS does not indicate anything in particular only that something electrically conductive is present. Even with low TDS readings it could still very easily be nitrates, phosphates, silicates, copper or any number of things detrimental to a reef system. Nitrates can be common in domestic wells and water systems that some would consider to be almost pristine.
RO/DI treatment is the best option available to us.

only problem ive had with buckeye is that my unit was broke when recieved...called and said they would send the part but its been over a week so far and still havent been able to use my $200.00 filter...Im sure it will get here Im just kind of getting tired of waiting
